Updated Traffic Alert: Paving Schedule for Cook Street
Coachella Valley Water District's contractor (T.E. Roberts) will be paving Cook Street as the WRP-10 Low Pressure pipeline construction comes to an end. From Monday, Dec. 1, through the week of Jan. 5, 2026, the construction crew will pave Cook Street. Paving through intersections on Cook Street will be scheduled for nights to minimize disruptions.Work Hours: Day schedule: 6:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.Night schedule: 7 p.m. – 3:30 a.m.Traffic Plan and Detours:
- Northbound traffic on Cook Street will be reduced to one lane.
- Southbound lanes will be unaffected.
- Eastbound traffic at intersections throughout Cook Street will have limited access throughout the nights as the Contractor crosses each intersection.
Schedule and Limits of Traffic Impact:
- Dec. 1 (Day Work): Paving through the Belmonte Drive intersection
- Dec. 2 (Day Work): Paving from Merle Drive to Green Way
- Dec. 3 (Day Work): Paving from Green Way to Hovley Lane East
- Dec. 4 (Day Work): Paving from Hovley Lane East to Riviera Drive
- Dec. 21 (Night Work): Paving from CVWD’s WRP-10 entrance, south of Sheryl Avenue to Merle Drive, and through the intersections at Merle Drive and Green Way
- Dec. 22 (Night Work): Paving through the intersection at Hovley Lane East
- Week of Jan. 5 (Day Work): Striping work from CVWD’s WRP-10 entrance to Riviera Drive
Please plan and use alternative routes and expect delays around the affected areas. Detours are posted throughout Cook Street.Posted schedules may change due to inclement weather or field conditions.About the Project:This portion of the project will expand CVWD’s delivery capacity to serve nonpotable recycled water to more customers throughout the valley, thereby maximizing the use of recycled water and reducing groundwater pumping for outdoor irrigation. It also addresses long-term water management goals by increasing the supply of recycled water to supplement local water supplies and safeguarding the local groundwater basin for future generations.
