Payment Options
Online Account Management
Coachella Valley Water District customers can manage their accounts and pay bills online. With the payment system, you can:
- Pay on any device using a variety of methods including credit card, checking or savings accounts, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Venmo
- Access your bills and your payment history 24/7
- Establish and manage automatic payments and paperless billing
- Set up payment reminders, notifications and payment methods including Pay-by-Text and Pay-by-Email
- Pay multiple accounts

Telephone Payment
Call us at (844) 309-5917 or (760) 391-9600 to pay by telephone.
The telephone system is available 24/7. Customer Service Representatives are available Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
We accept credit cards, checking or savings accounts, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Venmo payments at no additional charge. A confirmation number is provided as your payment receipt when your transaction is complete.
You may contact our automated 3rd-party service, Official Payments, at (800) 874-6558 to make a payment only if you are unable to reach Customer Service at our primary numbers above. Your 12-digit water utility account number is required, and a confirmation number is provided as your payment receipt when your transaction is complete. A transaction fee is charged when using Official Payments.
When using Official Payments to pay a delinquent bill, you must call CVWD during normal business hours and provide the confirmation number prior to the disconnect date to avoid discontinuation of service.
Banking Website Payment
Coachella Valley Water District accepts electronic payments from customers using online or telephone systems provided by their personal banks. The 12-digit water utility account number (including the dash) is required when using an online banking system. Payments are accepted through U.S. banks.
Mail in Your Payment
Mail a check, money order, or cashier’s check drawn on a U.S. bank to the address below. Please include the payment stub from your monthly bill.

You may pay your water bill at the Palm Desert Operations office or the Coachella office Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Drop boxes are available 24/7 at both office entrances for your convenience.

Pay at Walmart
Coachella Valley Water District customers can make debit card or cash payments in the Walmart Customer Service department through two options:
- Walmart Pay – CVWD immediately receives payment. Walmart charges CVWD customers a $2.00 service fee for Walmart Pay.
- CheckFreePay – CVWD receives payment the next business day. Walmart charges CVWD customers a $1.50 service fee when using the CheckFreePay option.
The property address and 12-digit water utility account number is required when making payments at Walmart.

Water services are billed monthly and are due and payable 15 days after billing date. The billing timeline is as follows:

If you are having difficulty paying your bill, please call Customer Service at (760) 391-9600 to discuss payment arrangements to avoid disconnection of service.
If a delinquency occurs, a turn-off notice will be mailed to the service mailing address at least 10 days prior to turn off. A property owner who authorizes a tenant to be billed will also be mailed a courtesy turn-off notice. Once water service is disconnected for non-payment, Restoration of Service fees must be paid in addition to the total amount due. A security deposit may be required. Domestic Water Rates

- Pay using online account management
- Pay anytime with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, checking and savings accounts by calling us at (844) 309-5917 or (760) 391-9600
- Pay in person during normal business hours Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at one of our offices
- Leave check payments in one of our drop boxes at either the Palm Desert Operations office or the Coachella office
Returned checks or denied payments will be assessed a $25 service charge.
Help2Others Customer Assistance Program
Coachella Valley Water District and United Way partner to help eligible customers who are having trouble paying their water bill. Eligible residential customers may receive a $150 credit on their water bill. Visit our Utility Bill Assistance page to learn more. Assistance is based on eligibility requirements.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
A tenant has the right to become a customer without being required to pay an owner’s delinquent bill. If you are a current tenant and are in a situation where water service may be discontinued, please call us at (760) 391-9600 to learn how to establish an account in your name. All applicants must meet the Coachella Valley Water District’s requirements for establishing service. If the current owner’s account is not delinquent, tenants must have authorization from the property owner in order to establish service.
