Coachella Valley Water District’s (CVWD) Coachella Valley Water District’s Operating and Capital Improvement Budget for fiscal year 2020 has received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
CVWD has received GFOA awards for the past seven years beginning fiscal year 2012.
To receive the award, CVWD satisfied nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how an entity’s budgets serves as:
- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide
- A communications device
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association with more than 20,000 government finance professionals as members throughout North American, including representatives from CVWD.
Coachella Valley Water District is a public agency governed by a five-member board of directors. The district provides domestic and irrigation water, agricultural drainage, wastewater treatment and reclamation services, regional stormwater protection, groundwater management and water conservation. It serves approximately 110,000 residential and business customers across 1,000 square miles, located primarily in Riverside County, but also in portions of Imperial and San Diego counties.
