Coachella Valley Water District’s Finance Department has been singled out for recognition by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada, which has awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to CVWD for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, with its attainment a significant accomplishment by CVWD and its management.
The award is for CVWD’s CAFR for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015. The CAFR can be viewed on CVWD’s website.
CVWD’s CAFR has won the GFOA award several years in a row. An impartial panel judged the book, which had to meet high standards that included a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to “clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read (the report).”
GFOA is a nonprofit professional association with 17,500 government finance professionals among its members, including representatives from CVWD.
